David Jacobs-Strain

Friday, Saturday, Sunday (February 10-12) at 6:20

David Jacobs-Strain is a fierce slide guitar player, and a song poet from Oregon.  He’s known for both his virtuosity and spirit of emotional abandon. His live show moves from humorous, subversive blues to delicate balladry and then swings back to swampy rock   and roll. David began playing on street corners as a teenager.  Before he dropped out of Stanford to play full time, he had already appeared at festivals throughout the country, often billed as a blues prodigy, but he had to fight to avoid being a novelty act.  As Jorma Kaukonen notes, “He is just one of those guys who is in his own class. A great singer and guitar player.”  From Switzerland’s Bop Festival to the Newport Folk Festival to the Montreal Jazz Festival, we are thrilled he is now joining us for Mexico’s newest music festival. “David Jacobs-Strain plays slide driven country blues like few artists of any age can muster.” (Guitar Player Magazine)
